With legislators returning to their home districts for the August recess, “the White House hopes to build as much momentum as possible,” for health care reform.

At the same time, Democrats in the Senate are ready to get a bill out of the Senate Finance Committee. Senator Charles Schumer says, “"Health reform is just too important to let this window pass by."

The White House is unconcerned by news of disruptions at town hall meetings hosted by congresspeople. Spokesman Robert Gibbs says, “"I hope people will take a jaundiced eye to what is clearly the AstroTurf nature of so-called grass-roots lobbying.”
