Health Care Myths Debunked
Posted by Kathy Mitchell at 08/11/09 03:43 PM

The Obama Administration is using social networking websites such as Facebook and Twitter to promote a webpage called Health Insurance Reform: Reality Check that aims to debunk some of the myths and rumors swirling around the healthcare debate.

Instead of worrying about whether government will ration health care when reform passes, Mike Madden writes that private insurance companies are already limiting care for dubious reasons. “Meanwhile, a House Energy and Commerce Committee report in June found that just three insurance companies kicked at least 20,000 people off their rolls between 2003 and 2007 for such reasons as typos on their application paperwork, a preexisting condition or a family member's medical history.”

This week Obama is traveling across the country to promote health care reform to people who already have insurance. He will be speaking on Tuesday in New Hampshire, Friday in Montana, and on Saturday he will appear in Colorado.

THE present health care system is
A system whose only goal is profit without risk(private insurance) executives making millions of dollars. It is obviously not working or unoffordable, too many of us are uinsured. We are paying hefty premiums, in the event of major illness sometimes we run out of their coverage, what is the fear? I can go on and on why change is necessary.

As a Group Insurance Rep, I'm tired of saddling my long-standing clients with oppressive rate increases. I just presented a client with an 18% increase. It was negotiated down to 10% and how? BY REDUCING BENEFITS OF COURSE.

We need Reform and need a Public Option.

Sadly, but truly, as Ronald Reagan once said, the nine scariest words in the English language are: "I'm from the government, and I'm here to help." Indeed, being self-employed has cost my wife and I dearly for health insurance over the years; however, is replacing a bloated incompetent private industry with a bloated incompetent federal bureaucracy going to help anything? I think not. The present administration with the stamp of congress has doubled the national debt in less than nine months with nothing accomplished, and if national health care is again entrusted to these same folks that brought us Medicare and all its flaws, what makes anyone think the results will be different? The only way to ensure an honest effort by congress to accomplish this task would be to force congress to enroll in the same plan they construct for the people, or give the people the same plan that congress has, which, of course, as with all their other perks, is the very best that taxpayers can buy for them.

One issue Consumer Reports is overlooking is the fact the Constitution does NOT give the Federal Gov't ANY power to legislate healthcare. And since is not one of the ennumerated powers given to Congress, it is by definition DENIED them.
Now Tort Reform, and legislation (Under interstate commerce amendment) to prohibit excessive profits at public espense is allowed.
If This publication continues to support Government supplied healthcare, I'll have to drop my subscription.
