Obama has learned many lessons from the Clinton administration’s doomed effort to reform health care, but Ezra Klein thinks that Obama might have learned those lessons too well: “Just as Clinton's plan was weighed down by the impression that it would change too much, history may leave Obama's effort vulnerable to the charge that it is changing too little.”
As it has become clear that the Senate will not have a health care bill ready by the August recess, interest groups are gearing up to put pressure on key legislators. “[Paul] Begala predicted an unprecedented wave of spending on all sides. ‘August recess is going to be the greatest stimulus package for local television and radio affiliates in the last 10 years,’ he said. ‘Everybody on every side of this is going to be advertising in the local media trying to move those members.’”
What i want to know is where is the voice of the people in this issue and why are we not seeing comments by those like myself who were part of the Cover America tour?
This is a real world issue affecting huge numbers of people that are refused health insurance everyday and if you believe in healthcare reform that will really help people then you had better turn off the TV and start making phone calls.
The Consumers Union staff are fantastic but they cannot do it alone.
There is no one reading this comment that cannot make one more phone call.
Wake up folks because if things keep going the way they are then we will end up with a Healthcare reform package WITHOUT A PUBLIC OPTION which i promise you will cause rates to skyrocket and if the Health Insurance Industry wins this battle for the second time then we are all in trouble.
I sell Insurance and I have abosolutely no doubt about what will happen with premiums.
People are literaly dying because of a lack of preventative care that would diagnose cancer in its early stages when it is more likely to be cured and this is just one disease.
This is not about Politics which everyone is sick of but what it is about is your family and your neighbor.
How many people does each of us know that have been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer because they would not go to the Doctor when the symptons were first realized ?
Our Country sends billions if not trillions of dollars overseas in humanitarian aid but refuse hamanitarian aid to their own taxpaying citizens of their own country!
Our politicians,Public Servants and even State and Federal prisoners yes convicts have the best healthcare available but not the people who pay taxes which provides this care for them.
This is beyond dollars and how much it costs and what is even more sickening is Republican opponents are afraid that it will hurt the Insurance companies which could care less about people who have pre-existing conditions or are not profitable to them so personally if that is the case I could care less about their profit and loss statement.
IS THIS ISSUE NOT IMPORTANT ENOUGH FOR EVERYONE TO DO THEIR PART?
